Beijing Olympic Village to start construction this June

Chinanews, Jan. 26 - According to plans, the National Indoor Stadium will
start construction this May and the construction for the Olympics Village
will commence this June.
The current emphasis of the Olympics Village project is to finalize the
plan and design, and to prepare for the construction as soon as possible.
The Olympic Village will strive to meet the requirements of the Olympic
Games and make it convenient for the athletes participating in the
Paralympic Games. "People first" will be the motto for the design of the
Olympics Village. But at the same time, the utility of the village after
the Beijing Olympic Games should also be considered.
The National Indoor Stadium will be an advanced multifunctional sports
arena. It will be able to accommodate 19,000 fans once completed. The
Olympics Village will provide accommodations and resting places for the
athletes, coaches and officials from all the countries participating in
the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. After the Olympic Games, the Olympics
Village will become a model residential community in Beijing.
