Zhejiang sold 800m pairs of shoes overseas

(Jan 20, 2005) According to relevant statistics, in 2004, Zhejiang
Province exported 800 million pairs of shoes, valued at 1.95 billion US
dollars, up 24.7% and 30.2% respectively over the previous year. Last
year, the volume of shoe exports by private enterprises in Zhejiang
Province soared 82.9%, 52.7 percent higher than the provincial growth
rate for shoe exports. Private enterprises exported 650 million US
dollars worth of shoes, accounting for 33.6% of all provincial shoe
